Licht ins Dunkel

Young Rupert Rumpelstil wants just one thing: to finally find out what happened to his father, who vanished from his life without a trace a few years ago. His mother can (or will) hardly help him in this quest. But Rupert possesses something that changes everything: a special gift. Turns out that he can see ghosts! With a pounding heart, a keen sense for clues, and his tomcat Igor by his side, he follows even the faintest trail. The closer he gets to the truth, the more clearly he senses that a secret lies dormant within his family – one that has long been hidden in the dark – until Rupert brings it to light. Help Rupert find his father!

Berlin-based artist Steffen Gumpert has illustrated and designed numerous books; many children will recognize his artwork from the popular »Die drei ??? Kids« series or his exciting ghost-themed graphic novel for children, »Der bleiche Hannes«.

Now, Steffen Gumpert is presenting his new interactive mystery comic, »Licht ins Dunkel« (Shedding Light on the Dark), at the Märkisches Viertel library and inviting everyone to get creative themselves. He will show his story to the children on the big screen and talk about how he became a comic artist and what it takes to do the job. Then it’s time to try it out: How is a story actually created? How do you come up with a character or design an entire comic page? There will be opportunities to draw and craft—whether spooky or something else entirely—always with the help of the comic professional on hand!
